Editorial accountability
Every story published under our name passes a human editor before it goes live — this is enforced by our publishing system, not by convention. Responsibility for what we publish rests with the editorial desk collectively.
What we cover
Construction Marketbook's newsroom reports on Zimbabwe's construction and built-environment industry: infrastructure and public works, property development, policy and regulation, company and market activity, and the sustainability and technology changing how the industry builds.
We also publish proprietary data the industry cannot get elsewhere — weekly material prices collected from suppliers and merchants, and indices built from surveys of contractors, suppliers and developers. Each index has a methodology page setting out exactly how the number is produced.
How we are funded
The newsroom is funded by Construction Marketbook, the construction marketplace it sits inside. We are open about that because it is the most important thing a reader needs to know when weighing what we publish.
It also means we do not depend on any single advertiser for survival, and that no advertiser or marketplace customer receives influence over coverage. How that separation is enforced is set out in our editorial independence policy.
Contributors
Alongside our own desk we publish contributed analysis from engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, developers and other practitioners. Contributed pieces carry the author's name, their professional credentials and their employer, so you can weigh the expertise and the interest behind an argument.
Contributed opinion is labelled as opinion. It is edited for accuracy and clarity, and it is not sponsored — a contributor cannot pay to appear here.
